Leadership Transition

12/16/2009
The past several months have been a time of transition for our organization.

After much consideration, National Council on Crime and Delinquency’s fifth president in 103 years, Barry Krisberg, has moved into semi-retirement, leaving behind a solid agency dedicated to its values and mission and in good fiscal standing, with an energetic and committed staff and board. During his tenure as leader for more than 25 years, Barry brought the organization safely through good times and tough times alike with a strong vision. In many ways, Barry and NCCD have been inseparable.

As an agency, we wish Barry the very best in his personal and professional pursuits. He has our hopes for a well deserved break that will allow more time for family, travel, and teaching. He will continue to be a valued collaborator on NCCD projects. We as a staff owe him a great deal and take seriously his trust in us to carry on in stewardship, striving for continued excellence.

At the helm now is Chris Baird, former Executive Vice President from NCCD’s Madison office, which he has directed since 1985. From 1993 to 1997, he directed NCCD’s Children’s Research Center, which has had a profound influence on child welfare systems in the US, Canada, and Australia. Chris is a scholar, author, advocate, researcher, and manager. He has won many awards for his contributions to the field. Chris has enthusiastically embraced his new role as NCCD President. We welcome him and offer him full support as we move ahead. Read the full press release, National Council on Crime and Delinquency Announces New President.
